The crap they try and tell you…
"Fitness" is a big business.
There are a lot of trends.
A lot of noise.
A lot of *stuff*.
But here's the thing:
An effective fitness + movement plan does NOT have to…
Feel hard
Feel miserable
Feel frustrating
Feel insurmountable
Be an everyday practice
Be a 60 minute commitment
Adhere to a rigid schedule
Make you sore
Produce sweat
Involve running
Involve crunches of any kind
Involve burpees or jumping or anything high impact
Involve a $2k bike
Involve $95 designer spandex pants
Be in a commercial gym
Be in a boutique gym
Be in a fully outfitted home-gym
Be in a quiet empty house
Be free of child whining
Be free of dog barking
Be free of cats climbing
If you are looking to get stronger, dissolve aches + pains, + help your body age well, here’s what your fitness plan DOES NEED:
To begin
(now is the perfect time to start)
Something heavy
(I vote 1-3 kettlebells for versatility + portability)
To be consistent
(a regular practice, but stuff happens - be flexible)
To be progressive
(follow a program - not just random workouts)
More movement
(in addition to the strength training, simply move. Sit less. Go for walks. Play with your kid. Chase your dog. Move more.)
If you need a pep talk, .
If you want to begin,
Remember - let the Before Times go.
Start now.
